B Coy 1 R WELSH
Just some news on what the boys from B coy have been up too;
Soldiers from Bravo Company, 1st Battalion currently serving in the Falklands ventured out to the unique Antartic location of South Georiga recently.
Accompanied by penguins, seals and whales, a section led by Lt Zorab, undetook a short period of winter survival training followed by a two-day patrol across the island.
The remote island famous as the final resting place of the legendary explorer Ernest Shackelton, is part of the South Alantic Terrirories for which British Forces stationed in the Falklands are responsible.
After travelling to south Georgia aboard HMS Dumbarton Castle, the Falkland Islands patrol vessel, the small team went ashore to begin their training in sub-zero temperatures and thick snow.
Once their training was complete, the patrol disembarked from the ship at Leith whaling satition on the north-east of th island and made their way around to Stormness Bay.
B Coy have completed 4 months tour of the Falklands and will return in the next week or so and will be replaced by A Coy.

I think the 2nd cap badge at Foxbay was RGJ ?. I'll have to dig out the photos.
Did everyone enjoy the Falklands ? I did I enjoyed the clean air, no ambient light so as you could stare into the heavens before you zipped up your excellent double hooped Bivvy bag, turned on your Walkman & dozed off to sleep. The sunsets & rises made for great photography, being in Foxbay the closest I got to Stanley was the old airfield on exercise, Guarding Mount Alice was a nice break from routine & cushy in comparison to being at The Bay.
There are many other stories The Ra calling out the QRF to stop an invasion, turned out to the off loading of sheep from the FORRESTER??
Ray Wetherson sitting in the stone sanger with his feet incased in mud having lost his slippers on the callout. on & on Remember, "1 click more" I still have the T shirt.

Re: B Coy 1 R Welsh (rwf)
I rememer a funny story, one night being on guard duty at Goose green camp, it was about 1.30 or 2 in the morning just falling off to sleep, stag finished till 3.30. When this alarm went off and we were told to stand too. I can remember grabing my Rifle, helmet and webbing and sprinting like mad to get to the trenches around the camp. The guard commander who will remain anonymous not to embarress him, but if he's a member of this forum will know who he is. went and woke the company comander to let him know that this alarm was going off in the guard room and we could nt find the button to turn it off and the camp was stood too.
Well you could imaging the guard commanders face when later that morning he found out it was a smoke detector that was making all the racket. it was in the days when smoke detectors were new and no one had informed any of the guard commanders what it was, because it had never gone off. what had happened was Nige Ward "Drummer" was taking a smoke break right underneath this detector an it went off. i think I would of beat Linford Christie to trench if he was on duty that night.
