Armed Forces Day
I've just returned from the Armed Forces Day celebrations in Aberystwyth that started with a march through the town with vetrans and standards of all three services. The Cadet Associations and civic dignitories all took part.....as Neil Talyor had to work I took on the duties of playing the bass Drum on parade (Benny Nash you have my total sympathy mate I was bl**dy knackard after the march) entertainment on the prom an a sunset set service at the end. Everyone clapped and cheered and came along to support a good day. Civic service tomorrow so a busy but pleasurable weekend.
Has anyone got a similar story?

Re: Armed Forces Day
Hello Hingey,
I attended the AFD in Cardiff as I have for the last 3 years. I had a wonderful time and met RWF friends from Swansea, Mountain Ash. Carmarthen, and Bargoed & Blackwood, amongst other friends and comrades. The AFD is a truly magnificent concept and Captain Morris is to be congratulated as is his committee for all the hard work they put in to make this a wonderful day, and the weather was dry. My thanks to all concerned including veterans of other regiments who introduced themselves and made some interesting comments on their service life and times. I met a wonderful man from the 24th of foot (the Royal Warwickshire Regiment) in the frock dress uniform of the 24th and he was a medical orderly with a lot of his own medical equipment of circa 1879 and had a good knowledge of the medical history of the life and times of the 24th (Royal Warwickshire Regiment) and camp followers from the south African wars. A most enlightening day for RBD.

Re: Armed Forces Day
Along with members of the Bridgend and District Branch of the Royal Welsh I attended the Bridgend Parade and Concert on Saturday. We had a great day one of the highlights was listening to a choir of primary schoolchildren singing at the concert. Another highlight was my 19 month old Granddaughter ambushing me by jumping into my arms as I was stood to attention at the Cenotaph. I had to give myself extra's for breaking ranks.
