    Public Duties.

It is, (to the best of my knowledge), some considerable time since the Royal Welch carried out Public Duties. Probably as far back as 1975.

Does anyone know if Line Regiments still carry out these duties or is it now only carried out by the Foot Guards? I know there are operational constraints throughout the Infantry, however it would be nice to see the Royal Welch back in front of the Palace and other London Palaces.

    Re: Public Duties.

Hi Nasher. Funnily enough the line regiment who do public duties are located in the Camp on my Borough of Hounslow which is where I police. 2 RRF have just left and were replaced in March by the Welsh Guards after haveing about 50 million pounds spent on the barracks to upgrade it for the guards being housed there. So, really in answer to your question as it stands at the moment there isn't a line regiment fulfilling the role of public duties (to my knowledge) but I suspect eventually a line regiment will takeover from the Welsh Guards at Cavalry Barracks, Hounslow.

Incidentally Robo 84's brother is the RSM of the elsh Guards.

    Regards.

    Re: Public Duties.

I am sure the 2PWRR have a public duties commitment in London District at the moment, they moved to Woolwich from Cyprus last year to replace 2RRF. However 2PWRR did not arms plot into Hounslow but Woolwich.

Paul, you may wish to see the Royal Welsh on public duties but I can tell you the boys would not thank you for it.

    Re: Public Duties.

    Vic,

That would make sense as it seems a bit strange that there is no line regiment fulfilling the public duties role. Having spoken to members of 2 RRF( north based battalion) while they were here they seemed to enjoy the public duties role? They also deployed to Afghan whilst they were here as will the Welsh Guards.

    Regards.

    Dusty

I took the kids to London about a month ago and the PWRR were doing public duties at Buck palace and at the tower of London.
