Dutch. If you have recieved a letter of employment regarding hours wages ect then I would think that you are in a strong position. Just remeber that a contract of employment does not have to be in writing, also that a Contract Of Employment is an agreement between two parties, enforcable by LAW!!!
I will still speak to my full time officer about your problem and hopefully come up with some guidance or help for you.
Anyway I wish you all the best and should you need me you know where I am.

Meanwhile you could go to your local citizens advice and to the local job centre for advice. The job centre may actually phone them on your behalf and get things moving whilst quietly reminding them that they may appear to be discriminating if they do not at least get back in touch with you with an answer one way or another. Hope that helps mate.
Gwyn it seems that you have'nt lost your touch of knowledge.

As I said in my post ring Newport CAB up first thing Monday on the face of it you've had an unconditional job offer and their are in breach of the law. CAB will contact them to ask why there has been a delay in your start date and I bet your bottom dollar as soon as they here the CAB is involved they will jump to it because you have a case for an industrial tribunal that will win!

    Re: employment law - help

situation at the moment is . i have been to cab they have advised me to write a letter to the company asking, am i employed ,why has my doctor not heard anything from them yet and if i am not employed why not etc.
i have an appointment with the cab employment expert on the 16th april and then we have until may 23rd to put a case together and because obviously i am as of this moment unemployed if they think the case is strong enough they will take it to a tribunal and they will fund it.
once again i would like to thank everyone for their time effort and advice on this

Cheers Dutch. I hope they sort them for you. This could be a helpful experience in the future for other Forum members, which is why I asked. Good luck mate.
