    Knee Replacement

As one who has just had a TKR I wondered is/are there any members of the forum have have undergone the same procedure. The reason I ask is that I would like to have an idea of how my progress compares to theirs over the same period and also of any setbacks they suffered during the recuperation period. A PM would be fine. Thanks in anticipation.
If I can help somebody as I pass along, my living will not be in vain.

    Re: Knee Replacement

Gwyn....Theres a lad who works with me, who in the past 18month, has had both knees done ,the full works, 1st went great, 2nd had an infection , so set him back a few week,He is now back in work on full duties and even doing a 10km run in Liverpool in the summer, not bad as i think he must be around 59-60 yr old.

    Re: Knee Replacement

    Hello Gwyn,
I had a total bilateral knee replacement( that is to say both knees were completely replaced on the same day 8/2/2006 I was 73 at the time) I cannot walk very far and am prone to stumbling and even falls. But the hospital and orthopaedic surgeons reckon all went well with the operation ?? I would like to suggest to all and sundry if you are offered a total bilateral knee replacement say no and have one at a time done. As one of our sages on the forum once stated bad knees seem to be an occupational hazard for infantry men

    Re: Knee Replacement

Definately one at a time. My Mrs has had both hers replaced. Before they were done she was on 2 walking sticks, since they were both done, never looked back. Though she does get an odd twinge now and then but she would reccommend it to anyone. Braz
