Percy Evan Williams and his 3 brothers-WW1

Having drawn a blank elsewhere, I wonder if anyone here can help me please, as I try to find out more about my husband's WILLIAMS family.

My husband’s grandfather was Percy Evan Williams, born 13 May 1888 in Marylebone, London.
He joined the 15th battalion of the 38th division of the Royal Welch Fusiliers on the 28 August 1914 as a Private, his regimental number was 21503.
His unit was commanded by Major General Ivor Phillips.
In November 1916 he was commissioned, his final rank was Captain.
He was mentioned in dispatches in 1917, and awarded the Military Cross in 1918.
Percy stayed in the army at war’s end serving as Assistant Military Liason Officer at Cherburg and Dunkirk, he left the army in 1921.

I have found his medal card at the TNA, and would really like to obtain a copy of his full army records. I have looked at the records on the Ancestry website, with a nil result, can anyone suggest where else I might find these records please?

Percy had three brothers, whom I have been unable to find any trace of past the 1901 census, despite using all my genealogy skills gained over the last twelve years.
I wonder if they might have also joined the Royal Welch Fusiliers along with Percy? Again, I have looked at the records on Ancestry and the War Graves Commission website with a nil result. Is there any way I can find this from the Battalion records and how would I go about this please? Their names are as follows:

John Edgar Williams born in Marylebone in 1880.
William Henry Williams born in Marylebone in 1885
Stewart William Williams born in Marylebone in 1896

Any help or advice that you can give me will be gratefully accepted.
    Thank you.

Re: Percy Evan Williams and his 3 brothers-WW1

Percy Evan Williams was easy: he is in John Tyler's Officers' Biographies. The others may be more difficult to uncover.

    Williams P.E. Capt MC
21503 Sgt Percy Evan Williams, serving with the RWF embarked for France 3/12/15 where he served until commissioned Temp 2/Lt (7/11/16) to the regiment then posted to 16th Bn in France from Nov 1916. Promoted Temp Lt (2/3/17) and gazetted (17/11/17) A/Capt and Adjt. Was promoted Temp Capt (9/8/18) and awarded the MC 30/9/18 for the action in Africa Trench the 17/18th Sep 1918 and remained with the battalion.

MC Citation :- For conspicuous gallantry during an attack. When part of the line was held up by heavy machine gun fire, he went forward several times with orders from his CO through this fire to companies in front, and later in the day was sent up and personally organized the right flank regardless of his personal danger. He showed great courage and devotion to duty.

    MC (LG 2/12/18).
    MiD (LG 18/12/17).

Pte Wlliam Henry Williams 13189, landed Gallipoli 19/09/1915, discharged 02/08/1917

One or two of these might be brothers of Percy Evan. Or they might not. With the resources at my disposal, there is no way of knowing.

    Hope this helps.

Re: Percy Evan Williams and his 3 brothers-WW1

Percy Evan Williams would of joined The 15th (Service) Battalion The Royal Welch Fusiliers (1st London Welsh) Formed in London October – December 1914. With the 13th 14th 15th & 16th Battalion RWF this formation became the 113th Brigade, 38th (Welsh) Division. Moved to Winchester in August 1915 and landed in France December 1915.
Did his brothers join the 18th (Reserve) Battalion RWF (2nd London Welsh) Formed at Gray’s Inn in London in February 1915 as a Service Bn. Moved to Bangor in June 1915. Between June and August 1915, was attached to 38th (Welsh) Division
Hope this input is of help.

Re: Percy Evan Williams and his 3 brothers-WW1

I am very grateful for the three replies to my post about Percy Evan Williams, I shall follow up the leads that were posted.

Now, another question please, one of the replies mentions John Tyler's Officer's Biographies. Would these include a photo by any chance? as we have none of Percy in wartime.

    Many thanks again,

Stewart Williams b 14/7/1896 NoK, mother Hannah of 45 Narcissus Road, Hampstead (your family in 1901) has a Pension Record on Ancestry. He was in the Royal Defence Corps. No 77349

The other two are a bit harder.

John Tyler's Officers' Biographies have never been published, as far as I know, so no photos. Sorry. Perhaps the RWF Museum could help, see their website for the e-mail address.

    Gwil,

You do have eagle eyes ! I had not found this at Ancestry, despite having spent many hours looking at the War records.
I am indeed so very grateful to you, and my husband is over the moon!
