s'Hertogenbosch Commemorations, 24-28 Oct 09
The town of s'Hertogenbosch will be commemorating its liberation by 53rd (Welsh) Division at the end of WW2 over the period 24-28 Oct 09. The main day is 27 Oct, but members of 2 R WELSH are playing a rugby match against a local side on 25 Oct and are conducting a battlefield tour on the 26th. Overall coordination of serving soldiers participation is being conducted by HQ 160 Brigade - not sure of any Comrades events?
The 1st Battalion is shortly off to Afghanistan, but will be conducting its own battlefield tour early in September. Matt

We've already been invited to this and were disappointed becasue the invite was from the 26th onwards - no hols left and busy work time - but if there's something on the weekend, we'll definitely do our utmost to get there and take some piccies.

HELP!!
Pat's trying to organise a day off on Monday or Tuesday. We'd like to know the agenda for the days ceremonies. Does anyone have an idea? The person in Holyhead is never in when we call and isn't phoning back and ..well, it's getting on my nerves now.
Can anyone help with an agenda?

From the latest programme I have seen: R WELSH main-body staying in Vught Barracks, just outside the town, arriving on Saturday afternoon.
Sunday 1600-1800 Rugby team playing 'the Dukes' on the City Fields - 15 min from Vught Barracks.
Sunday 2000 - Solemn Ceremony as Town Mayor receives the torch in Market Square.
Monday 1030-1200 - Official Reception by City Council, Town Hall, City Centre.
Monday 1400-1600 - Commemoration and procession to Resistance Memorial.
Tuesday 1100 hrs - Ecumenical Service in St John's Cathedral.
Tuesday 1215 hrs - Parade from St John's Cathedral to Market Square.
Tuesday 1530-1630 - Official ceremony at 53rd Welsh Div Memorial
Tuesday 2200 - Fireworks at the Citadel.
Hope that helps; not going myself. Regards
