Malaya Rosette
Hello all,
A move is afoot to try and obtain a rosette to wear on the Malaya G.S.M.An ex Malaya veteran is raising a petition in Parliament because all other avenues especially the conditions and time limits set for the award of the M.PJ medal. I am trying to get as many names as possible to sign this petition, by canvassing a couple of the RWFCA branches. Signatories of this petition do not need to have served in the conflict.Any and all people may sign this petition. Wish me luck.

Re: Malaya Rosette
Hi Richard, I take it we need to sign a paper document rather than sign up via a link? If so, i also take it that you will be sending said petition to Branch Secretaries? Will gladly sign even if it means going to see Keith May :winker:

Re: Malaya Rosette
Richard. Is the rosette for the lads that were there before 1958 and the Pingit Jasa is for those that came after .I have read all about the fight for the medal for all that were there. That has now been resolved.I wish you the very best of luck and if you want me to sign anything just let me know.Stan Howes

Re: Malaya Rosette
Hello Stan,
You are correct in what you state in your e mail. The worst of the Malayan campaign was over by the time limits set by the Malayan government. The MPJ medal has a short qualifying period and primarily is intended to celebrate the Malayasian independance. This rosette is being applied for to allow all soldiers who fought in Malaya from 1948 until the formation of and the independance of Malaysia. The men from 2/RWF and served in Malaya from 1954 to 1957 have been disenfranchised. This Malayan award (MPJ) falls a lot later and as a consequence thousands on Malayan veterans miss out for this award due to the very limited qualifying time set by the Malayan government.I strongly suspect that money is the real reason. As a point of interest any person over the age of 18 can sign the form, it is not solely for holders of the UK G.S.M with Malaya clasp In your case I will have to send a form to you as it appears you are an individual member and are not in a branch. But I can assure all and sundry out there I need your support please. The forms have room for 44 names and addresses so it would appear that in your case if you send me your postal address by a private e mail I can post a form to you and you can return it to me.Any other interested members can adopt the same practice please. I have sent forms to two branches and will be in touch with Keith from Cardiff asap.
