I was born in Ely...my brother in law has lived there all his life. Having read the initial comment, I e mailed him about it. He hadn't heard of the incident, and reckons it, (the PO ), would have been burnt down by now, if it were true !!!
There was never a mountain in Ely!

Out of curiosity I've just googled this story. I didn't belive it for a second when I was sent the story on facebook/hyves/msn and email. It's really doinf the rounds isn't it. This kind of urban myth is created for one thing only - to cause unrest and trouble. It seems the matter was brought to light by a subs-paying member of the BNP. Says a lot dunnit. The National/International news services haven't even touched upon it and I know for a fact that the Human Rights Brigade wuld have been on it like flies, they're not because it's made up clap trap. If it was true, Mr Khan would have been imprisoned and facing severe charges. Charges relating not only to to racism but also for not providing the postal service he was contracted to. If it was true Mrs. Maria Davies (there's a nice generic name for you) would be the heroine of the tabloids and you'd all know what she looked like.

I find it a shame that, based on the speed the story has gone around, there are so many people who are willing to believe it. Poor bloke (if he exists at all).

Don't you all remember during the start of the Iraqi conflict, another story about a Muslim woman supposedly berating a western woman in a supermarket/corner shop, because the Western woman's son was in the forces? Also untrue. I won't be fodder for the *******s who make this rubbish up especially to rile the masses. Yes, there are good and bad in every culture but so many Muslim people, even children, are innocent and peace loving and because of tripe like this, are victimised and abused daily.

It's so sad.

I visit this post office regularly and there are notices on the front doors and walls stating that the post office supports all our armed forces overseas in Afghanistan and this story is a malicious rumor started to cause hatred and racial tension in the area.
