Could I ask that someone takes on the task of publishing on the forum, the results of the Comrades Golf Meeting which takes place on Fri 1 Sept 2006 at Oswestry.
In addition, Could one of the Members attending the reunion, collate the results from the competitions taking place on the saturday. We won't find out otherwise.

Re: Comrades Association
Hello all branch secs,
At a meeting of the Bridgend & District branch RWFCA, held at Tondu Rugby club (Aberkenfig) on the 12/12/06, a vote was taken to merge the Bridgend branches of the RWF and the former 24th41st,(Royal Welsh Regiment) We are also changing the day of our meetings. This will move from the last Thursday of the month to the second Wednesday of the month. Our inaugural meeting will be held on the 10/01/07, at this meeting we will elect new officers of the branch, and sort out the equity and other business. As every one will apreciate the diaries and the last edition of The Red Dragon will have our old dates of meetings.
Regards to all.
R.B.D. sec of Bridgend & District branch.

Re: Comrades Association
Hi Richard, my view on merging into the RW association is for it. But i think there has to be set rules on how we do it and how we protect our traditions from each regiment concerned, plus we should do it as one with all the branches acting as one, if we rush into this we might loose our regimental traditions and identity.
I am for merging but we must not rush in ,we must do it right and all together, please do not rush to merge , it will happen but there has to be some guide lines before we do. Val.

Re: Comrades Association
I'm a little concerned about this merger.
Are we to see a former RRW member possibly represent you as a branch at say for instance the Secretary's meeting in Newtown next year?
I don't think so!
We in Aberystwyth have invited former RRW members to join us as Associate Members. That means they have the ability to enjoy all we have to offer except the ability to vote and the ability to become a committee member.
This is how it should be until there are no more former RWF members left to keep the Branch going. Then, and only then, when the new Regiment has totally subsumed any distinction of each of the individual Regiments can we contemplate merging!
Please rethink your actions as you have laid them out on the forum which if carried out as you say, will cause major problems as I have outlined above.
This note is by way of trying to resolve the problem that you have in an ammicable and realistic way.:emoticon-sign:

I know I'm not a Comrade and not RWF but the sentence above seems crazy. I'll try and explain why I think that.
If you wait until there are no more former members left within your Branch/Association then why bother merging, there is no-one left to merge with and that branch and its history will have withered away. Meetings for the last member will be pretty boring and he will be overworked from being the Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and only member.
I am not saying you should merge now, you will do that when you are ready. My personal opinion is that you need to merge at some stage for the following reasons:
1. To bring us all together for comradeship.
2. To enjoy reunions together.
3. To support Comrades/Veterans and serving soldiers alike.
4. To ensure that the RWF/RRW traditions are passed on to the younger members of Royal Welsh Associaton. (Who may not know any different).
The SWB and Welch Regt lads have done this before. They made it work. The RRW branches have SWB, Welch Regt and RRW members and they carry on the traditions and values of all 3 Regiments.
To be honest its better for me if you don't merge within the next few years as I then get to go to a Reunion in the South and another in the North. Don't forget I have to get some use out of my Chicago Rock lifetime membership.:emoticon-sign:
