Re: Jim Barton (aka Jim Crow)

I knew your father very well,we joined the regiment nearly the same time in Honiton.Jim was my arms storeman in A Coy through Ternhill and Ballykinler. Not reknown as a speed merchant in fact I can't remember him doing any sort of run let alone a CFT. Jim was prone to losing equipment (not wpns) but everything else, just ask "Spud Murphy".Great character your old man, nobody could help but like him, fond memories of him. please give him my regards.

Wishing you a belated happy 60th birthday Jim. There was a place for everyone in 1 RWF and not every NCO had to be a 'Brecon racing snake'. Jim played his part, was always loyal, kept a tidy arms store and worked hard (when he needed to!). Perhaps most of all he was a character who, like so many other characters, made 1 RWF, and our Regiment, the great outfit it was. Hwyl fawr, Bob Lloyd
