    Junior leaders/soldiers battalions.

Talking to an old friend on the phone last night, someone I haven't seen or heard of for over thirty years, and thinking that I knew pretty much everything about him I was surprised to hear him tell me that he'd been a junior leader at the same camp I had been, only I joined a year after he'd left. Now I know there are a couple of others on the forum who also have been junior leader/soldier because I have talked with them about it so I was just wondering, how many are there of us out there who were juniors at Oswestry, Shorncliff, Rhyl etc before joining the battalion?

    Re: Junior leaders/soldiers battalions.

    Sept 77 - Aug 78(oops)
    Junior Soldiers Company
    Cwrt Y Gollen

All these 12 guys joined the Bn, 4 of us completed 22+(would have been 5, but one took redundency in the early 90's). Only one finished at the 3yr point whilst we were in Lemgo, everyone else served at least 4-5yrs with the Bn. Binning Juniors was a massive recruiting and retention error.

    Al Poole
    Keith Darlington
    Dai Hood
    Ian Garbutt
    Rob Mathews
    Jones 70
    Davies 54(Mortars)
    Mim (Jones 69)
    Mike Simmister
    Barry Hutchinson
    Gags Saunders
    Sean Jones 67(Peelow)
Dillon(transferred to REME after approx 10 yrs service)

Myself, Gabby and Peelow completed 22+ RWF Service.

    Thinks thats all?

    Re: Junior leaders/soldiers battalions.

For my sins I was posted to IJLB Oswestry from Jan 1963 to Feb 1966 as a bugler/ reg police, later I was posted to JTR Kinmel Park Camp Rhyl from Jun 1970 to Jun 1972 Skill at Arms wing.
Writting down the dates reminds me how old I am now, happy day's.
    Joe.
