As far as I am aware the collar dogs will be the same for all Battalions.I believe they are similar to the RWF capbadge (a bomb) with a rampant dragon.I think that the previous CO 3rd Bn Martyn Leader posted some images of the collar dogs on this site a few months back. Then again I may well be talking rubbish.I am sure that someone from RHQ or one of our members from the Battalions can put us right.

Re: New Cap Badge
the coller dogs are worn by all three Battalions and consist of a bomb with 9 flames comeing out of the top and a griffen with a wreath of immortals surounding it hope this helps

Jas, thanks for the info but a Griffin ! Y Draig y Goch surely that is a red dragon ?Again I stand to be corrected.
Wikepidia:
The griffin is a legendary creature with the body of a lion and the head and often wings of an eagle.

Re: New Cap Badge
Colin you are correct on all points, i would have thought by now that all serving members of the Regiment would have the new badges and buttons as the clothing stores of all 3 Battalions have them in stock and have done for some time.
But as always some peoples admin lets them down and its only at the last minute before a parade or mess function that they decide that they had better get it sorted out before the port fines start coming around. Funny how the higher the rank the worse the admin seems to be.

Re: New Cap Badge
The design of the new collar badge is dead simple: it's the RWF collar badge with the RRW's superimposed on top of it. To be entirely pedantic, the dragon is passant (standing on 3 legs with one raised) rather than rampant (standing on its hind legs). End of heraldry lesson...

Sorry Colin, did'nt realise it was that small which I agree is just not acceptable. Is there anything that can be done at this late stage? I suppose the people responsible did not involve those that matter in the decision making process. By that I mean the lads!

Having seen the letter from the Col of the Regt (Brigadier R Porter MBE) I believe that all discussion is now ended and all decisions have been made. This was after much debate and discussion by the committees formed with members from both former Regiments and with approval from HM the Queen our Colonel in Chief and the relevant military authorities. In fairness the committees were always on a hiding to nothing as there was no way their decisions were going to be popular with everyone as some of the posts on this site and the RRW veteran’s site have shown. None of my comments are the official party line just my own take on these matters. But as someone who is still serving after over 42 years service in the 24th South Wales Borderers the RRW and now the Royal Welsh I can fully understand why some people feel hard done by. The only thing I would add is I command approx 30 Royal Welsh NCOs’ from the 1st & 2nd Battalions and they seem happy enough notwithstanding the normal light banter you would expect. Whilst not being disloyal to their former Regiments their main focus is to get on with the job in hand.
Regards Colin
PS. Sorry for being long winded.

Colin,
Not long winded at all. The main point, as you have quite rightly stated, is the lads focusing on getting on with the job in hand.
