I agree Si, we have been Royal Welchmen and as I am retired still one. But we must not forget that RWF and RRW have merged and now know as Royal Welshmen, and all should be proud of this fact.

I believe it is now time for this subject to be put to bed.

There has been little consultation with the old and bold, with regards to all these uneeded and costly changes to Regimental Regalia. Some designs are pretty good others absolutely dreadful. The old 41st Welch Regt has again been overlooked by our Southern brothers. Our POW feathers should be theirs (the clasic design) and our Stable Belt theirs upside down ie the colours of Wales green/white/red. If I was Dental Corps I would not be happy!

I can accept a green waistcoat for messdress but as one of the very oldest Royal Regiments the Regtl Colour should be Navy Blue as with British Army custom and if the 2nd Bn want a Green one then fine.

    Re: Regimental Colours

    Hello Ifan,
Re you opinion of the old and bold not being consulted on all matters of the merger especially the colours. On documents in my possession it states quite clearly that COMRADES views are not be considered. The reason behind this edict is as follow Any merging of units are the sole priority of the "Young and serving members." This edict has a certain merit about it's content. As a point of interest I disagree with being disenfranchised for what ever reason. But I am well aware this blanket decision applies to all former comrades of what I euphemisitically refer to as the Welsh Brigade (circa 1950) So we are all in the same boat!!!! Thanks for your input none the less.
    Regards Don aka RBD
