Hi Richard,

I worked in the Bn Ord Room in Tidworth at the time and I was certain that Drum Maj George Bostock was a recipient. I think he was a GLOSTER when he came to us, would there be anything under that Regt?

Hi Gerry,

I am pretty sure George Bostock (RIP) did not get one. If I remember it was quite a contencious issue at the time as he was the only Drum Major on parade on Horse Guards Parade in the Prince of Wlales Div who did not have one.

I have received a reply back from Joan Bellamy reference Les' medals:

Les received the Silver Jubilee medal, and the MSM but not the MBE, hope this clarifies the situation.

Is there an Official List on who got this Medal?
I have seen previous threads with a list, are they official?

My son picked up a jubilee medal in a flea market at Niagra Falls, a few years ago, for a couple of dollars. Of course we have no way of knowing it is genuine, but if it is, is there any way of finding out who it was presented to. There are no names, numbers, ranks or regiment details on the medal. Is that the same with all of them?

I was serving with 1 D and D at the time. No chance of me getting one then!

I would just like to thank everyone who contributed to this thread. I returned to Oxford last week and took great joy informing an ex Para that in my opinion he was wearing this medal under false pretences. It really is sweet getting one back on the "Airborne".

Mind you, I know a certain ex Drum Major (who will remain nameless) who got "one up" on the Paras over a certain sandwich. The filling of this sandwich will also remain nameless. I just cannot remember where this took place, however I am sure someone out there will jog my memory.

Hi Dave,

I was Chief Clerk 1 D and D from April 1976 to mid 1980 in Belfast Barracks, Osnabruck. Fred Shortis and Bill Bullocke were the COs during that time (oops, forgot that John Wilsey was just taking over as CO when I left in mid 80)!
