!when i left the btn i went on the reservist list,i still have my instruction book/red book..so wouldnt kieth have done the same ..my book is adressed to were i was a year and a half after i left the rgmt is there a record of reservists..

The problem we have is Data Protection:

As Dai as already pointed out his NI Number will locate him fairly quickly. Army Records at Glasgow will have that detail, but will not disclose it. If we could obtain that number, it is possible that the Salvation Army may be able to trace him.

Im fairly confident if we knew what area he resided we could find him by ourselves.

Chow can you check with Roz and ensure she has already tried the Sally Army, they have a formal tracing service, and charge a nominal fee. More details below:

Al i have talked to Rosie on the phone,no go on any numbers,we have both talked to the agency but to tell the truth with out numbers they couldn't help,Rosie has tried the salvation army,but no luck there,i have left a post on the N.I.V.A site so maybe we might get some thing from them..i have also post on all the sites i mentioned so we wait and see from then,i will post any info i get from any of them.....cheers for now..chow.

ps.Al would army recordes have kieths national insurance number?

i had a reply the NIVA site to tell me that the info i put on about kieth may put him in dager and have deleted that part of the post,but the invite to look at our forum remains,so we might get some info yet...chow..

If as Chow says that information on this site could put Keith in "Danger" (i assume that is what he is saying) this thread should be put to bed and done through another (more secure ) medium. His safety has to be the first priority.

thanks Gwyn,i am certainly not saying that the info we have, would put Kieth or any other person in danger, if i thought that for a moment i wouldn't post it.certainly no more than i would put on face book or similar sites about myself. but the niva site is the only one so far that think that..i didn't leave any more info than, is and has been on this site for a couple of years,if you have a more secure medium in mind please post it.it could aid other in their searches..

I agree Chow, I think republicans have more important things on their mind, than a squaddie from 35 yrs. If their that desperate for targets they can have a whizz through facebook, at least they will have some up to date pics of RWF guys. I would pull the NIVA post if its a problem

Steve,
I fully understand what you are saying, but I think that there are a couple of things that I must point out to you.
1. This site is targeted by young Irish Republican dissidents, because of what it stands for. NIVA has been championing the cause of ex NI vets, from both sides of the Irish Sea, for many years, and so of course we do come in for some unwelcome attention.
2. We try to offer a safe environment for all those using the site, and so it was a policy decision from the very start, that outside the members area, (which because all users there are vetted, is secure), NO personal details are allowed to be printed. Now, it could be that your missing friend is either living, or is now in a situation, (marriage etc), where he does not wish his past service to be made public. He would hardly thank you for putting his details on an open web site.
3. I can only suggest that you contact the RBL for details. This site is, unfortunately, not geared up to locate missing friends. Sometimes old mates bump into each other on here, because of association by Regiment/Corps etc.

I have read the post with much interest and, although I do recognise Keiths photo, I have not seen him since the 70's. I do hope that you all have luck in finding Keith, if only to confirm he is safe.
