Birmingham Tatto

The Mrs and myself are off to the Birmingham Tattoo next Sun, 30th Nov 08. I havn't noticed it Advertised anywhere mind. Is any other Member going by any chance?

My Bro ~ John Nye and his family are going on Saturday. They go every year. I've been once and it is very good.

I honestly did not know that bimingham hosted a Tatto. I went to the Cardiff Tatto's when they used to hoest them. I do not even know if they still do or not anyone know if they do or not. As I have just come back to Cardiff living and serving in N.I for the last past 10 years.

I think the Cardiff One finished around 1980ish, due to the cost of running it etc. When you think that it played to full houses every night, what was happening to all the Money/Gate Receipts.? I know that they said that it went to Forces Charities etc, but surely they must have kept Costs of staging it etc back?

I went to one in Cardiff with My fathers grandparents but did not relise it was that long ago. Thanks for the info. I agree with that they should have kept something back because the one that I rember was full and if memory serves me correct they were held in the August time and were fantastic and amazing to watch. In fact the last one I did see was the massed bands tatto.

Hi Guys, Just to say the last Cardiff Tattoo was in 1987, There is supposed to be a Small Scale Tattoo to be held in Cardiff in JULY 2009, Details still Sketchy at this stage, but If I hear anymore I will Pass on details ok.

Hi,

Having just read the threads, I can only concur regarding the advertising of this event.
I live in the West Midlands, Solihull, and quite unaware that this event was taking place.
I will attend, and would appreciate venue details, timings etc.
I will also be wearing my blazer and all other regimental trimmings!

Went to the Tattoo last night and it was very good, with the Parade of Standards, Royal Marines, The Band of the Gurkhas and the RAF and others.
Next year it is on the 28th & 29th November 2009. see you there
