Re: Combat 90
I think it was a bit of Doggy TV playing to the audience as the RWF were streets ahead but they decided to make it a winner take all thingy to add to the final event which the RWF did not win, had it remained a points thing and not fell foul to a final TV climax the Boys would of won!
Thats my memories of the Day best ask Gary Martin and crew?

Re: Combat 90
The Bn did come second, we were disqualified on one of the stages we won and ended the competition equal on points with the A&SH (the winning team was then given on a 51mm Mortor shot on the final phase - i think Gary Blewitt and myself were on the Mortor?)
There were 2 four man teams:
Ian Cave / Shaun Price or Huw James
Mark James / Gary Blewitt
Gary Martin / Frankie Taylor
Shaun Mathews / Dave Crimmins
Others in the squad were Richie 64, Mal Owen, Rob 33s. The team manager was Arthur Ellingham.

Re: Combat 90
Hi Dave.
Remember the training well some right sessions, especially being a **** swimmer
and Mal Owen beasting us in, Was it Sennybridge swimmin pool or Brecon I think, memmory and time lol, the mine clearing in those freshly cut hay fields, and of course the swim training accros the lochs, not forgettin the mountains. Some good fun
.
Dave Parry I think was the other reserve when we got to Otterburn, appologies if missed any 1. Remember after Dave Parry done his Bk in badly jumpin a fence for a tennis ball, I think.
If any 1 has any pics would be good. We where in Berlin at the time I believe

Re: Combat 90
Rob if you thought you were a bad swimmer I just held on to the boat when we crossed that lake, "BOB" just gone blank on her name but she was the girl member she later became a PTI & did well on " Gladiators".
We spent a lot of time away from Berlin.
I remember poor Jones 14 after a tab over Llangatock having Tinc Benzine being injected into both of his blistered feet by Keith May while we held him down.
Helicopter absailing was good & the L/rover rallying.
During the competition at Otterburn I ended up as "Billy Bloody Smart" with his circus setting up the dining tents every day, poor old Paz spent his time Dixie Bashing I think.
There was some one with us from The sigs Pl I think sorry I've forgotten his name.
There is a picture in The Gallery of the prize giving. WE WOZ ROBBED

Hi Ritchie
Jude Shenton the girl on the team, can't remember if there was another girl as well, was that Bob?
Heli absiel was a laugh, mind not when slid down the rope an Sean Matthews landin on top of us
. Yes remember the Otterburn Dixies Lol, all that training and then on the pan bash with the other lads, mind u aint done dixies like the Coastel in the Falklands, bigger pans than the boat. But a sly couple of quid guranteed u to pull the incinerator job ha ha.
Looked at the first footage, Matt had hair quite funny, mind not spoke to him for years.
Right take care M8, hopefully catch u around Wxm for a beer

Sox,
It was the A&SH (representing Scotland) that won.
