Re: RWFCA Diary Dates
Hello All,
I have some additional dates for your diaries following Bob's diary dates. The Veterans Day South Wales, will be held in Cardiff on Saturday the 27th June 2009.The venue for the day, with the exception of the parade and finale, will take place on Cooper's Field Cardiff.
The outline plan is:
A parade through Cardiff city centre,
Drum Head Service.
Buffet/Bar.
A series of entertainment and events to take place throughout the day.
Stands from various organisations and service charities.
As always the finale will be a beating Retreat, which will take place within Cardiff Castle Grounds.
We are in the process of setting up a web site for Veterans Day, for both North and South Wales, by this comimg December that will be up-dated on a regular basis. You will be able to find this web site by going to www.veteransdaywales.co.uk
R.B.Donovan's R.W.F. web site can be found at http://mdonovan.free.fr/rwf
I have a feedback system on this page.
Regards Don

The site is brilliant. Couple of things:
1. The picture of Remembrance Service, where was that taken?
2. My Mum and Dad were living in Nee Soon, close to the Transit camp, when the Bn arrived in Singarpore in 54, and we all visited Port Dickson when on leave coming from Cameron Highlands.

Re: RWFCA Diary Dates
Hello 401,
On June 11th 1957, a drumhead service with the Colours on parade was held at Selerang Barracks to commemorate those who had died or been killed in action in Malaya whilst serving with 2/RWF. To the best of my knowledge 11 men were killed. I reckon this is the picture you refer to in your e mail.Details from Regt records Vol 6 By Brigadier J Riley et al confirm my memory of this most solemn occasion.
Regards Don
