Forum Members- Active/Non Active
Hi,
Having gone through the forum members list, it was interesting to note the number of members who have not visited the forum between 2005 and the end of 2007. Indeed, there are a number who have not visited since their joining date as far back as 2005. Should there not be a purge?
It is also worthy of note regarding the existance of a hardcore of contributors who keep the forum alive.
Just an observation!
Bye for now,

Re: Forum Members- Active/Non Active
Today, I've created a member group called "Inactive Accounts" and I have placed 1124 members who hadn't logged in for at least 6 months into that member group.
If a member has not visited the forum for a defined number of days (currently 180) then they will be moved from their existing usergroup to this one. However, if a member of the inactive usergroup returns to the forum they will be automatically restored to their original usergroup.
Note: The move of inactive users is now done once per day as part of the daily update cron job
It is also interesting to note that of the 920 'active' members, only 444 have made one or more posts.

Re: Forum Members- Active/Non Active
Happy with that BoB but how about people like myself who are serving soldiers who go on ops tours or exercises can we not cap it at 9 months otherwise we could lose some of these members for good
just a thought

Re: Forum Members- Active/Non Active
Yes i agree with scorch a 6 month tour these days can almost lead to a very intense 9 months preparation for fighting in a real war enviroment i myself like to jump on whenever possible but due to work and commitments this isnt as often as most would like agree with scorch 9 months sounds better (dont shelve the serving)

Re: Forum Members- Active/Non Active
I have now set the cut-off point at 9 months; however, it doesn't really matter.
Accounts get moved, not deleted. If you log on at any time after the cut-off point, the software will automatically move you back to the Registered Members' Usergroup.
