Sun paper clip
On 22 Sep, the Sun published a clip, on page 21, regarding the homecoming parade for 2 RRF which was due to take place on that date in the City of London.
The parade was to commenorate the return of the Bn from their tours of duty in Iraq and Afghan. I pressume that 2 RRF were in Cyprus in Dhekalia.
According to the Sun, they were the only Bn to fight in both countries; This I believe is incorrect as OUR Bn have done the same, and more. I am suprised that the Sun, who are very Forces orientated have got there facts wrong.
I am aware the the City of London had an affiliation with he old 3RRF (City of London Fusiliers), bu why have he 2nd Bn been linked, when they were originally he Royal Warks Regiment and then Fusiliers.
The piece has shown what can be done on the PR front by the MOD/Army on behalf of Regiments. I beg go ask the quesion, what about 1 Royal Welsh (RWF)? Why can't the Bn that has done the same as 2 RRF, get the same publicity?

Re: Sun paper clip
Who wants publicity in 'The Sun' ?
It's not a case of getting their facts wrong; it's a case of what sells and what their average reader can relate to.

Re: Sun paper clip
I agree that the Sun do support the services very strongly, probably more than other newspapers. HOWEVER!! As for not getting their facts right...!!! Don't get me started, remember the Hillsborough tragedy where 96 Liverpool fans were killed and the Sun printed disgraceful lies about surviving Liverpool fans. I'll get off my soapbox now, but this is something very close to my heart, and I will never believe anything they print.
