An interesting point is that if a male has gender reassignment surgery to become female then they only need to attain the female standard and likewise if a female reassigns to a male they have to attain the male standards.
Yes Kev & Roger and then they would be carrying less weight too???lol

Re: BFTs!
The male/female thing is fair enough. We're built different, thank God!
World records for running any distance are held by men - you don't get mixed sex olympic races. (do you?)
As for the sex change thang - what's removed below is more than compensated for by what's added above!
Plus that one would probably get home so far in front of the rest, she could get a brew on and do some hoovering while they're in the shower.

The 2 miler is still done and is known as the Advanced Combat Fitness Test 1 (ACFT 1). It is an individual best effort run in assualt order carrying 20 Kg (44lbs). The pass time is 15 mins. A number of Representative Military Tasks (RMTs) are done at the end of it.
There is also a ACFT 2 which is done over two days. Day one is a 12.5 miles (20Km) loaded march carrying 30Kg (66lbs) in 3 1/2 hours. Day two is a 12.5 miles (20Km) loaded march carrying 20Kg (44lbs) in 3 hours, a number of RMTs are done at the end of it.

15 mins!!!!! To run 2 miles carrying 44lbs of kit, the old Brecon 2 miler used to be 18 mins, clearly the fitness standard are far higher now? Glad I'm out!!!!

Re: BFTs!
Just to clarify.
The ACFT Dave mentioned is over a distance of 1.5 Miles.
However the true Army test is still the 2 Miler in 18 mins.
