Pay Dispute!

I joined B Coy 3 RWELSH on 16, Nov 2006. I was enlisted and promoted to CSgt on enlistment. However, I was paid as a recruit at a rate of approximately £30 a day from Nov 16, Nov 2006 to May 2007. I am owed the difference in pay between a recruit and a CSgt, which is about £60 per day. This equates to well over £5,000.

I wasn’t the only one that was owed money - there were others in the same boat. However, everyone else’s pay problems were dealt with satisfactorily and paid to them in Nov 2007. My name, for whatever reason, was omitted from that list.

I have tried on numerous occasions to get help in resolving this matter from the PSAO and AO. I was even told that the Chief Clerk was involved.

As you can appreciate it’s now been 19 months and I have still not been paid my dues. Every month, for 13 months, I have been told it was “getting sorted”, but here I am, 19 months later, still waiting! It’s a shame I cannot get interest paid on the outstanding amount.

Can someone help me out before I write to the Soldier Magazine and get my local MP involved? PM me if you want my mobile number.

I’m not a whinger, I don’t complain continuously about something relatively unimportant, but £5,000+ over 18 months is a lot of money to someone that has a lot of personal problems and debts to pay.
