Can someone tell me why standard bearers have to wear grey trousers? If you look at the British Legion Standard Bearers Manual it state Black or Dark Blue trousers, I thought we took our guidance from this.???

    Hi Benny,
I agree with you on the trouser issue but I have one of my own. Not every Comrade has a RWF Beret and Hackle. I've never seen Comrades excluded from parading previously for not having a beret and hackle although I do agree the Standard Bearers should wear one. (No white socks)
Let's have this cleared up please as with these conditions your only likely to have a handful of Comrades on parade.

    Paul

I believe its only Standard Bearers that have definately got to wear beret & hackle. The rest of the Comrades can still march without them

    Re: Comrades Weekend 08

    Hey Lads
Please " Don't shoot the messager" on this one I agree that that the dress should be waived for the the Marching Comrades' but the RWFCA Association dress rules for Standard Bearers' is laid down and has always has been ever since I can remember, we don't conform to the RBL rules we conform to the old RWF dress rules for Comrades' Parade dress.

Please all inquiries/comments to Major Arthur Ellingham HQ Wrexham

    Re: Comrades Weekend 08

I agree that Standard bearers by there position should dress accordingly and should wear the beret & hackle but also that efforts be made from resources to ensure that hackles are available for all events over the coming years this must be a regimental requirement don't loose what we have with memories its so important is it not?
