    Human Rights within the UK

I'm probably going to open a can of worms here. On the news today, Osama Bin Laden's son is waiting to hear if he will be granted a Visa to come and live in the UK with his English born wife. Obviously his arguement would be that he cannot be judged by the sins of his father. However at a time when we see the brave men of the Gurhkas having to protest outside Parliment in order to fight for the right to stay in this country, a country they loyally served for 22 years what is the betting he will get that Visa and be welcomed with open arms, why, because he can afford to get one of these bleeding heart human rights lawyers to argue his case. It seems to me that as soon as this Government hear the words "Human Rights" they start running look at the case of Bin Laden's representative in the UK (the name escapes me) a man currently serving time in jail for incitment and who came to this country on a false passport, the Government want to extradite him to Jordan but will they...NO and why because some judge has ruled that it will infringe on his human rights, the fact that he condones the violence and bombings is irrelevent according to these judges. Some will argue that without human rights there would be a lot of injustices and I agree. However it seems to me that there is a lot of "nasty" people using the human rights law to get away with far more than they deserve. This Government has publicly said it will get tough on these people who through their retoric incite, condone and brainwash the young impressional Muslims of the UK to kill themselves as human bombs or fight in Iraq or Afghanistan against the army but as soon as these human rights lawyers start challenging the Government they back down. Instead they go after the easier targets such as the Gurhkas or indeed the foreign wives of British soldiers (the case of the wife of a soldier fighting in Afghanistan who happens to be Canadian has been told she has to leave the UK because she hasn't lived in this country long enough, the fact she lived on a British army base in Germany is irrelevent). Yes there is a need for human rights but lets get it right, where there is a genuine case let all the powers that be help to put that case right but where there is a need to be strong let this Government be strong no matter what these bleeding hearts say, after all where were the human rights of the innocent people killed in these bombings etc.

Re: Human Rights within the UK

It is a can that needs opening Paul and I agree with you totally, this Government uses the Racism card and Human rights as and when it suits them. They honestly expect us to believe that because a no-mark judge or a bunch of them has made a ruling ,their hands are tied. If it had anything to do with oil, minerals or any other product that would effect the filthy rich in this counrty those judges could spout what they like, it would not make any difference to the outcome. The only way to change is to get rid of them, try the next lot and get rid of them until we get some half honest (at least) polititians who are actually willing to do the job we want them to, one of those being the very basic "what is right and proper" ie the Gurkha situation. The unfortunate thing is though, people still vote the same way as their forefathers because thats the way it has always been. Last one out switch off the lights.
If I can help somebody as I pass along, my living will not be in vain.

A point well made Gwyn. If Iraq hadn't been such an oil-rich Country would the USA or indeed this Government been so willing to invade. A casing point is what's happening in Zimbabwe, a former rich Commonwealth Country brought to its knees by a ruthless dictator (yes lets point out the similarities with Iraq) but with no oil. What happens.............nothing except for some strong worded statements about how cross we all are. Where are our Governments and the Human Rights lobby now when millions of ordinary people of Zimbabwe are brutaly put down.

If Ossies son is so keen on living in Britain, then maybe the do good politicians will agree for him to do a tour of Iraq wearing a Brirish uniform, earning a Brithish soldiers pay and paying Brithish tax's first.

The problem is that the main political parties have mislaid their back bone if they ever had one, in North Wale in the forthcoming elections the BNP have several candidates who will gain seats as they are contesting seats unapposed simply because the main parties have not put up anyone to contest the seats.
The Human Rights issue has shown that the main parties do not listen to the man or women in the street, and as for the judges they are on a totaly different planet to the rest of us.
By the way I totaly agree with Paul and Gwyn's comments.
    End of rant,
    Joe.
