    Honiton 1968

I was attached to 1RWF from Jan to July 68 at Honiton and spent those months in HQ Coy with Maj Davies-Jenkins; WOII Popham; Lcpl O'Rourke and Fus Cross who was trained by myself before his clerks course. Other names I recall are Brian Tidcombe; Bob Dando and John Wiseman. I played for Honiton RFC up to April and took part in their Friday nights in the gym playing murder ball! Happy memories but where are they all now?

    Re: Honiton 1968

I was in the Signal Platoon and B Company in Honiton. Ernie Popham is in Llanelli; O’Rourke was, some years ago, an NRPS Clerk with 1 WESSEX in Devizes and John Wiseman is in Brecon. As to the others, I have no idea of there whereabouts, sorry.

My brother-in-law, Roger Marks played for Honition RFC, as did I on a few occasions. I can recall those Friday nights in the Gym - more often than not we went for a run before returning to play basketball/murder ball!

    Re: Honiton 1968

Thanks for comments - they are much appreciated. It was Bob Dando and not Brian Dando.
I forgot to put in my original message that I was 1 Welch, recently returned from Aden where I spent nearly two years on Secondment with the Arab Army. I still have the ticket for Honiton RFC end of season Dinner/Dance at Dolphin Hotel in Beer where they cost £1 two shillings and sixpence which included the cost of the coach from Honiton. How times have changed!
I note, webmaster, that your location is in Lancashire - I live in Fleetwood and am involved in a minor way with Blackpool Veterans Week in July this year. I am also Functions Officer of Aden Veterans Association.
Meeting any of those names I listed would be brilliant - Ernie Popham conned me to be Orderly Sergeant on the night of the Sergeants Mess Do in Honiton. If you know of anyone who ever sees him, please ask them to pass on my best wishes - Brian Evans AKA Ianto 73 - Cpl Clerk with him.
