The belt is now in Cyprus, having arrived by post on Tuesday. Major Brian Bloor (QM) has the belt in his office, awaiting reframing and being replaced back in the Red Dragon.

Dai, No one is disagreeing that the belt should have remained within the Battalion. None more so than the person who was given the belt, as Ive said numerous times.."In Good faith!!". I understand there are strong feelings, especially from those of you who were close to Louis.Yes, it should have stayed in the Battalion without doubt. But it is back there now. At least the person who had it, had the balls to contact one of us and get it sent back.

Everywhere I go I look at what's hanging on the walls in frames and I see some right old carp about - acid laden mountboard that will eventually rot all it touches - methods ditto. Also stuff that has faded badly.

When you take this for framing, ask how it is going to be mounted - if they mention ANY sort of adhesive, tell them to stuff it!

It should be stitched in place, and not by piercing anything, or some other totally reversible method, on to archival board, and UV filtering glass should be recommended.

The thing should be spaced well away from the glass.

If you can get it here I'll do it FOC and give it 'museum' glass - UV filtering with optical coatings that make it 'invisible' not that fuzzy horrible non-reflective carp - it's uncanny - in normal light you have to touch it to believe it's there.

Costs and arm an a leg (well, just an arm to me) but I know it won't come this way anyway - tee hee.

Some photos and a biography included in the frame would be a nice touch too.

That is an interesting post; first of all I would like to thank you all for looking after the belt and keeping Lou’s memory alive.
Where is the belt to be found now, as I would like to see it, if at all possible I have very little knowledge of his achievements in the battalion, where could I find out any of this? Is there any photos of him on this site that I could download.
Any information would be gladly received.
    Thanks again for your efforts.

    Steve Williams (Louis‘s younger brother)

PS any info I shall pass on to Steve as he doesn’t have a PC.

    Hi Tom,

Welcome to the Forum. The belt is in Cyprus, perhaps one of the boys over there can take a picture.

Oggie/Beefy, can either of you oblige please?
