Although they did not mention his regiment, it was nice to see William Roache MBE (Ken Barlow in Coronation Street) RWF, reading a passage on this years Royal Festival of Rememberance

Just watched the Festival of Remembrance. Very sad, very humbling, but very
uplifting. I feel so proud of our courageous service men and women and all
those who have gone before them. God Bless them and keep them.

I am off in 30mins to attend a parade in our local area here in France, it something that needs to continue where ever you are, as the soldiers of the 1st War have all but left us and its the 2nd are getting less, so its up to us of later years of service to keep this well deserved honor continuing for ever and a day!

Wrexham for me this morning. I think this year is a turning point, in that although we are remembering the fallen from the 2 world wars. We are now in the midst of 2 other wars, in which our young men and women are suffering death and injury now. I thought last nights programme highlighted that. Huw Edwards script also made it clear that the nation was not doing enough to help the survivors.

Incidentally, an excellent piece of journalism in Saturdays Times 10/11. It focused on the wives of 2 R Welsh, and the anguish they are going through as they wait for their guys to come home. It also highlighted the wives feeling that the nation did not really care about its forces, or what the troops were going through whilst fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Padre's wife especially vocal.

    Re: Royal Festival of Rememberance

Just got in from the Newcastle Emlyn parade,, a very good turn out for a small West Wales town. Even Capt Ian Salmon of 2 RW was turned out in full dress who was home for the weekend, Nice to see a familiar face from the RRW years.

    We will remember them.
