    Re:

    Welcome Brian.

Im assuming you have found the Grave vis the CWGC Site. For members interest, Ernest's stone reads:

    In Memory of
    Fusilier ERNEST WELLS

4202846, 6th Bn., Royal Welch Fusiliers
    who died age 30
    on 12 August 1944
Son of Ernest and Louisa Wells, of Abergele, Denbighshire.
    Remembered with honour
    ST. MANVIEU WAR CEMETERY, CHEUX

Ernest was killed during the 6th Battalions break out from Normandy. During this phase, they lost 7 Officers and 56 Other Ranks. In the written history of the battalion the authors states

" It had been an infantryman's battle, each small field and hedge had to be dearly bought and held by sheer guts under ceaseless fire. It was over, but we had left many friends buried in Normandy."

With regard to assistance....I certainly hope it is available. We have several senior members of the Comrades Association, and the regiment who will be able to provide advice. In addition to several members who have close links to the veterans agency. I'm sure someone will point you in the right direction.

Additionally The Royal British Legion may be able to assist. I know they have a War Widows Scheme, but Im not certain if that is extended to immediate family. Have a look at this link. http://www.britishlegion.org.uk/cont...u-508940.shtml

If you're prepared to allow the story to be broadcast, I've also heard of local media channels bankrolling visits to war-graves in return for the filming rights. You'd have to approach a local station and inquire though.
All the best and good luck to your mother, I'm sure we'd all love to hear how she gets on.

My wife who works for the Veterans Agency says SSAFA could help, but she also look if there any other organisations that could help (i.e.The Not Forgoten Association or our Regimental Association).
