    John Williams - Bangor

Hello all. I hope someone can help me.

I want to find out where I can get information regarding a John Williams from Bangor.

A young lady lost her father, John Williams, many years ago and has no mementos of him. He was in the 2nd Bn in Malaya, Corp of Drums & boxing team.

Any help or contact will do

    Thank you

    Hello Minden3,
The second battalion in Malaya came under the jurisdiction of the Gurkhas. We were attached to the 26th Gurkha brigade under the command of Brigadier C.S.Howard D.S.O. The battalion were split up by companies and spread about quite a bit. We were mainly in the Negri Sembilan area. I served in "D" company .Some names from the corps of drums were Drum Major L.WE.Ainslie,and Drum Major D.O.Yaylor.Sjt Evans38.the band master was WO1 P.F.Cane.Sjt Taylor. Sjt R.H.Lawson.Sjt C. Jones I will ask about to see if contact can be made with the section you require.

    "Don" akla R.B.Donovan.

Hi minden3 its rik here mate. the 1st Battalion old drummers had a reunion at the royal welch fusiliers club in swansea 2 years ago, whilst we were there I was introduced to a Drummer from the 2nd Battalion RWF. he often goes to the social club on a Friday. I cant remember his name. If you ring the social club at Swansea i'm sure they can give you the details. Perhaps he new John Williams. its worth a try.

    best of luck Rik.
