Re: Louis Williams Boxing Belt Found!!!
Im pretty sure it was on the red dragon books. Yes we all know that operational commitments can reak havoc on our sport, but it isnt going to be every year that the boxing cant take place. This belt is a great inspiration for the boys to fight their hearts out not only for their respective Coy's but for them selves. Some good lads with hearts of lions have won that belt over the years and it would be a shame to see it go. That is unless the family wanted it.

Re: Louis Williams Boxing Belt Found!!!
Can I suggest we obtain the view of the CO 1 RW:
Sometims decisions are taken, without actually passing the CO´s desk. I suspect Col James may have a view on this. He may even wish his young novice boxers to continue boxing for the belt. Ask him and see.
He or CVW can be emailed via the site

Re: Louis Williams Boxing Belt Found!!!
Hi everyone,
The family knew nothing about Louie's mess dress in the glass case.....and were thrilled to hear about it. They know nothing about the belt.
Should Louie's parents both be alive then i think the situation would be a little different.
There are three brothers and two sisters (i think). One brother and sister live locally the others are scattered around the country. As families can do at times.....there would be arguing over who has what & where!!!
Maybe a photo of the belt or the mess dress would be better for the family. I could easily make further copies for them so they can all have a few photos of Louie. I dont think they have many photos of him to be honest.
Thanks again
Glen

Re: Louis Williams Boxing Belt Found!!!
With reference to the belt, it was presented last in 2005 when it went missing!
I organised the Inter Coys and it has been sort after since, especially on our move to Cyprus, by me and the Boxing Officer.
I think the family would like it to be returned to the 1st Bn to be presented again. I would love to know of its handlers when it went missing!
Regards
Rico

Re: Louis Williams Boxing Belt Found!!!
Scouse
i know the family and where they live in Rhostryfan.
I used to be in the Regimental band but have been with North wales police for the last 20+ years. I believe that there are some coppers on here that work in the Wrexham area. If they send it to me in the internal post i will deliver it to the family.

Rico´s message pretty much settles it really Guys. It should be passed back to the 1st Bn ASAP, so that young novice boxers can have the honour of being presented with Louis Williams Belt. If they are not going to use it, then a proper decision on its future can be made........ Hopefully there will be a permanent Red Dragon Club in Chester, which would be its natural home.

Re: Louis Williams Boxing Belt Found!!!
Been away for the weekend, so only just seen replies. As I said earlier, I will do whatever Im told to do. I will request the member to drop it off in Wrexham Police station for me, and I will take it up to Hightown Bks. I will hand it over to a Royal Welsh(1st Bn) person and let al poole know who has it. Then, I can then remove myself from any involvement in this matter. I hope this is to everyone's satisfaction.

Its great news that the Louis Williams belt has been found .His name will live on in the battalion and be an inspiration to the young lads when they take to the ring and stand toe to toe. Many thanks to Scouse75 for getting the belt back on its way to the Battalion..
