    Maelor Evans (Aberystwyth)

It is with great sadness that I have been informed today that one of our stalwart members Mr Maelor Evans past away whilst on holiday with his wife in Great Yarmouth.
Having undergone heart surgery only a few weeks ago Maelor was determined to attend this year's Reunion and consequently kept his 100% record of attendance at every reunion since the end of WW2. As a Comrades Medal holder he was noted as a fine singer both on the stage, in chapel and in the watering holes of Wrexham. A standard bearer in his younger days for both the Branch, the Burma Star Association and the British Legion in Aberystwyth and to this day had the honour of being the only Legion Member in Aberystwyth to have carried the standard at the Festival of Rememberance at the Albert Hall.
His kindness touched all he knew, as he was a very good friend to both young and old alike.
He will be missed by us all.
I will post details of his funeral etc as soon as I have them.

Sleep tight friend, a truer Royal Welchman there never was

I have been informed by the Funeral Director that Maelor's Funeral will take place next Friday 14th September at Aberystwyth Crematorium 1415 hrs. Aberystwyth Branch will be providing the bearers and if those attending would wish to bring Standards the family would be overwhelmed to see that his fellow comrades would give him a send-off he would be proud of.
Any questions or quires please give me a ring on 07814 601044

    Re: Maelor Evans (Aberystwyth)

Have had the honor of being the STANDARD BEARER for MAELOR at his service of Higher Order. MAELOR attended every reunion at Wrexham for the last 57 years, he had a WONDERFUL send off.

Our thanks from Aberystwyth Branch go to the bugler from the Royal Welsh Cardiff and also to Major Gary Blewitt for arranging this on our behalf.

He will now be teaching Pavarotti how to sing 'Myfanwy'

  9. Thanks ap1, Glyn Hughes 17 thanked for this post
