    Restoring Some Faith?

I wanted to share the following with you. Over the last week or so, quite a few forum members had posted their concerns regarding the lack of respect and the yob culture within our communities, and that many of you and your families had experienced the horrible things that are now commonplace within our communities. I would just like to share an experience with you from last night, to hopefully restore some faith in human nature.
You will im sure, all be aware of the tragic events in Liverpool this week, when 11yr old Rhys Jones was shot and killed as he innocently walked home from football training. Im sure many of you were moved by the sight of his Mum, Dad and brother at his beloved Evertons ground on Saturday.
As usual, Bri Taylor49 and I went to Anfield to watch Liverpool tonight, and the club invited Rhys's family along so we, Liverpool fans could pay our respects and show our support to them.(By the way, I believe that Rhys's mother is originally from a little village between Llangollen and Corwen). The family bravely took up the offer and were presented to the crowd before kick off. For those not football orientated, Liverpool and Everton rivalry is unfortunately not the fun family thing that it was through the 60's,70's & 80's and has become much more hate filled in recent years. This again shows how society has changed.
Tonight however, was absolutely heartbreaking and in a bizzare way, a proud experience. A call was made in the Liverpool media for Liverpool FC to allow the playing of the 'Z CARS' theme tune before the match. This is the tune that Everton walk onto the pitch to. The family said that Rhys would be up in heaven with a smile on his face, knowing his beloved Everton tune was being played at Anfield for the 1st time in history!! The sight of his brave family stood beside the pitch as the tune rang out around Anfield, as they wore thier Everton tops, was so heartbreaking. This was then followed by our traditional 'You'll never Walk Alone', to which the family remained on the pitch for. Then the crowd participated in a one minute's applause to show our respect to the little lad and his destroyed family.Im pretty sure that I was not the only one of the 45,000 crowd with tears running down their cheeks tonight.
I apologise if some members may feel that my post is irrelevant for the forum, but I just recall some of the messages last week from members being at their wit's end with society today. it's just a shame that it takes horrible tragic events for things such as tonight at Anfield to restore some faith in human nature.

Rest in Peace little Rhys, and keep shouting for your beloved Everton. God bless mate.

    For Scouse 75.

I also watched the events at the Liverpool Match and found some of the dedication quite touching. I don't, however, agree with your remark about your thread being irrelevant
It is quite relevant regarding what Society has to suffer nowadays.

By the way, congratulations on a good result!

Anyone reading that who didnt have a tear in their eye must truely have a heart of stone. It is lovely to hear that not all society is tarnished.
May he rest in peace and his family find the strength to get through these tough times.
    Take care all

Thanks for sharing that Scouse. I'd say your thread is not only relevent to the forum but to life in general. It's a shame that it takes the death of a child to make hardened individuals stop and think.
I hope they catch whoever took this childs life.

This is the footage of the moving tribute to young Rhys at Anfield last night. I must warn you, it's very emotional.
