Re: RWF in Berlin
Darren, You're right about Kladow-vastly different. I went last year and was necky enough to get the German army to show me around old 'Monty Barracks'. How lazy are they? Everything is still in the same place; MT, Med Centre, the messes, etc! Although they have messed the rugby pitch up! Blasphemer's! I know one thing, Nick Ravenhill would not be best pleased with the state of the grass and the areas, it's a right mess. Downtown was great, I actually got served in the Irish Bar in the Europa centre without being thrown out! Didnt get as far as 'Grotties' as my Girlfriend was with me!

Re: RWF in Berlin
Scouse your rite about the camp i took a walk up there from the ferry point (what a trek) goes to show i must of been drunk most of the time coz i cant remember it being that far from kladow to camp lol. i got as far as the guard room and every thing still looked pretty much the same. what an excellent camp it was. As for grotty's well i took a look on the first night i was there, only to get a currywurst from the imbis stall you understand lol. I went in to the old starlights just to see if it was the same but theres no asians there no more just sum big moma so i finished my beer and left to a torrent of abuse,(cheap charlie) nothing changed there then lol. was nice to go into the irish bar and hear some english though. great memories of berlin but just not the same as when you had the lads with you. this was the second time iv been since we left and i will deffo go back. all the best Daz

Re: RWF in Berlin
Anyone remember the WALL Concert. Brilliant day. I spent the day, with Shadey and Rachel Kent, Jas Saralis, Palty, Boz, and others watching the bands from the Potsdamer Platz. Then just before Roger Waters kicked off the Wall Concert proper, a few of Deltas(Who were providing Security), managed to blag us all into the VIP Stand.fantastic.and a free goody bag.
Heres a clip from the day. Roger Waters and Van Morrison singing "Comfortably Numb"

Re: RWF in Berlin
Hi Hitch here - the older one.
I am still in Berlin and alot of the old haunts are now just memories. Still a great place though - and the times i spent in the NAAFI and on the razzzzzz with the lads are times that I will never forget. Scouse75 is right Marias has shut down due to ill health (combination of schnaps and fags) I still keep in contact with her through friends of ours who live nearby. I aslo went to the closing night - I think it was a great night but I cannot remember much. I think Oaksey is right Algate, myself and Oaksey are the only RWF left in Berlin and Joe Trumper (ex Recce) near Rostock. All the best to anyone who remembers me and my brother and my thoughts are with any of the lads on operations at the moment.
