    Inquest Petition

This has now closed. Total signatories was 724 - which is an excellent response - given the short time left after they finally agreed to put it up (they refused to give it the 6 weeks it would have had if they'd put it up on the day I originally submitted it).

All signatories will now receive an email from No 10 explaining why this is a worthwhile cause 'but these are the reasons we can't do anything about it ..................' (being a cynic I will be ABSOLUTELY surprised if it says anything else.

To all of you who signed and asked your 'e' family, friends and work colleagues to support it,

    THANK YOU VERY MUCH

Well done Keith, quite a few influential people signed it. I noticed a few city high flyers, a judge and Desmond De Silva QC

Can we have another crack in the future as I am sure a 6 week leading would have generated much more numbers - I also have some contacts in the coroner world

    Re: Inquest Petition

The problem is that they will (assuming they don't change the law, as petitioned!) stymie any repeat petition because it really is going to be very expensive and politically embarrasing to admit that they should have anticipated this problem and done something to ensure that the workload is shared. The other MAJOR problem is the amount of financial compensation that is likely to be ordered. With a delay of up to FIVE YEARS any political administration can rest on its laurels and ignore the problem. If the polls are anything to go by. Nu-Labour and Tony Bliar/Gord' have nothing to worry about - they will well be out of office before any of the current claims come home to roost!
