4180859 Christopher Hunt RWF
researching 4180859 Christopher Hunt, Pte. RWF,
Discharged 7/05/1921, Gun shot wounds - buttock, malaria and Otitis Media [ear infection]
born 1886, lived 5, King Street, Newport, Mon.
Christopher is not on the 1921 IGS roll for Waziristan, which rules him out of being 1st battalion
So to my question, does anyone know of any rolls for 3rd / 2nd battalion in Ireland 1917 - 22
There is a Christopher Hunt who served 1st battalion as 10785 to France 2/11/14, missing 13/12/14, wound stripe awarded 31/05/15
This Christopher is not listed with the Red Cross as a prisoner of war so possibly transferred to a Garrison battalion or 3rd battalion

Re: 4180859 Christopher Hunt RWF
thanks for that, where did you get the additional information? I only have ancestry.
8th Battalion is good for the malaria note and both men GSW Buttock it's got to be the same man.
the research is for a good friend, Christopher was her grandad, he died less than a 12 month before she was born as was mine, poor sods didn't live long
much appreciated

Re: 4180859 Christopher Hunt RWF
Ancestry is very limited as a source and full of transcription errors (an example: Adm William Fortescue Sells has been renamed William Fittesene Sells by Ancestry).
The info comes from the 1st Bn Casualty Register.

If your friend has a photo of her grandfather, I'd appreciate a scan for the RWF Museum Survivors database (see https://www.rwfmuseum.org.uk/all-tha...them/index.php)

I'll speak to her this week and find out
I've posted 4 photos in ww1 photos and I'll go through my collection and post any other cards or RWF relevant things I have.
I have a 25th Battalion tortoise shell compact which I'll photograph and post, plus a Montgomery Yeo. snuff box and 2 cigarette cases 1 Mont'y and 1 Denbigh Hussars
All the best regards Mike
