A very sad day. Spent a lot of time with Bob in Tidworth when we were on Belize Rear Party where I was a very junior Sergeant. He persuaded me to join the Chevrons Darts league where despite his nurturing and coaching, I was never a threat to Phil Taylor. I shared a car with him to Newtown to attend a League of Friends Annual during that same Rear Party. Rest in Peace, Bob, you will be missed and the world is a much lesser place because of your passing. ‘Bye, my old mate.

So sorry to hear this news. Bob was a lovely man, a real gent. He was a great friend of the young subbies when we went to the MT to pick up a vehicle whilst trying to avoid any grumpy MTO. Always had time to chat at the annual Reunion. He will be sadly missed. Heartfelt condolences to his family. With deepest sympathy.

    Re: WO2 Bob Russell

Bob was a determined and respected man who was good-humoured, trustworthy, and considerate; and I don’t know a single person who didn’t like him.

He was my examiner on my driving test in Lemgo, which I passed! I remember during the test, driving through Lemgo and coming to a set of traffic lights. The lights turned Amber as I approached, and I slammed on my brakes – nothing behind me – and Bob said “we’ll take that as your emergency stop!

He will be sorely missed by all those who had the privilege to work alongside him, but his memory will never be allowed to fade.

My thoughts and deepest sympathies are with his family, friends and colleagues at this most difficult time.

I know this is a late entry, but Bob also tested me in Lemgo, when we went to do the 3 point turn, I did it as if we were in the UK, when I complted it he said "did you get taught that way" I answered yes, when we got back to camp he siad, I"I am going on leave tomorrow, so I will pass you, it was not your fault you were taught the wrong way" Gratefully accepted to say the least.
