I have recently come across some army records for my late father and grandfather, both called John Higgins (I will deal with my grandfather in another post as he was in the South Wales Broderers).
I would be very grateful for any details of my father's military service. His name was John Higgins, born 27th June 1914 in Tredegar, South Wales. His army number was 3907835 and he enlisted with the Royal Welch Fusiliers on 6th July 1932 at Abergavenny. He was discharged on 8th September 1942 as 'Permanently unfit for any form of Military Service'. I would love to get some more information. I have some of his army photographs that I will post as soon as I can scan them.
I also have a certificate of discharge from the South Wales Borderers where he served for only 14 days from 3-16 January 1931 being discharged 'having made a mis-statement as to age on enlistment' (obviously very keen to join up).
Thank you very much for any help you can give.
