Henry William Godfrey 6th Battalion Royal Welch Fusiliers. Reg 145313

Hello everyone.
I was wondering If someone could shed some light on a Battalion that my 2nd great uncle served in. He was born abt 1886 in Birmingham and served in the 6th Battalion Royal Welch Fusiliers. He original started in the 23rd Manchester Regiment. I also know that he joined the Royal Medical Corps at some point.
He was awarded the victory medal and the british war medal.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Chris, He attested Manchester 20.8.1915, the Regimental Number 145313 is the number allocated to him on transfer to R.A.M.C., Regimental Number whilst serving with R.W.F., was 61796, he service record has servived.

With regards to information on the 6th Battalion, RWF., I suggest you have a look at the Long Long Trail., web site www.longlongtrail.co.uk.
