New IWM/Peter Jackson WW1 film Wrexham 16 October

The Imperial War Museum in collaboration with the well-known film director Peter Jackson (Lord of the Rings/ Hobbit; Mortal Engines; Tintin; King Kong etc.) has produced a First World War film based on its own unparalleled archive footage and veteran sound interviews.

The result is They Shall Grow Not Old,which uses amazingly cleaned-up original film married to the words spoken by those who were there: https://www.theyshallnotgrowold.film/

Some of the footage has also been colorized, which is a bit of a mixed blessing in my opinion since of course the colours are only those which were chosen by the artists concerned. However, this perhaps might help it to be accepted by more recent generations?

It is showing (one night only) at many venues, but in Wales they seem to be limited to Wrexham, Aberystwyth, Cardiff, and Newport (plus Shrewsbury etc.just across the border). Use the link to determine nearest by distance.

Wrexham's showing is on Tuesday 16 October 6pm at the Odeon, Eagles Meadow. On that night there will also be a live-link Q&A session with the Director.
