trying to find information for my cousin regarding his father.hes trying to find out is if he served in the rwf or swb.his number on his dog tags is not very clear.his number was 13314998 or it could be 13014998 the third digit is not very clear.his name was thomas jones we know he had the milatry medal but not sure why he got that he also had other medals awarded but not sure which ones.all believed to be ww2.any information greatly appreciated.

The number quoted would appear to be from the number block assigned to the (Royal) Pioneer Corps (13000001 - 14000000)

Does anyone know the location of the medals ? If so the Military Medal will have the recipients details impressed on the edge which will give us the info needed to progress. (The name is not one of the best from a research point of view )

Definitely not RWF WW2. As a point of interest only one guy listed on the awards pages has an 8 digit number commencing 13. Although a few do have the 8 digit number commencing 14.

Let us know how you get on Gerry.

Also got to the London Gazette and search on his name. If he was awarded an MM in WW2 it will be listed on these pages. As Richard suggested look for Pioneers or SWB. It will also confirm his army number for you.

thanks richard and al for your replys.local historian has told my cousin that the medals are still in ruthin but cant tell him who has them for some reason.he has a picture of his father been presented with a medal along with a few other men in ruthin.(not sure if it was king george that time)thats what made us think he was in rwf.on the back of his dog tag was no.27.not sure what this meant.his son thinks it was number of his house.thats all the info we have apart from a few photos he has.
