Aeroplane Field, High Town Barracks, Wrexham

Just come across this little fact regarding High Town Barracks. During the Railway Strike of 1919, mail was distributed by air from Shotwick ( RAF Sealand ) throughout North Wales, Wirral, Mersyside.
One of the airfields being, " Aeroplane Field " situated under the walls of High Town, Barracks.

Further information : Aeroplane Field as it was called was actually inside the barracks boundary, not outside as I first thought.

Now believe that aeroplane field disappeared when the Hermitage camp was built on it during WW2. Found reference to the field in references to Hermitage Camp which was described by a number of former occupants as being across the road from the RWF. Depot. I think the road referred to was Bryn y Cabanau Road.
