Thomas Clifford Williams 6th (RWF) Para

My name is Paul Williams, D.O.B. 27/10/1946. Living in Llangollen North Wales, I am now retired having been a shop owner for 22 years. My wife and I like to travel around Europe and the USA. I have not done any military service. I joined this Forum hoping to gain information about my Father Thomas Clifford Williams and at that time was living in Llangollen, he was in the 6th (10th Bn Royal Welch Fusiliers) Bn Parachute Regiment - from February 1942 to 1947 Service No 14200988. He was posted to Piddlehinton and served in North Africa, South of France, Italy, Greece.

Many Thanks in advance to any help from member of this Forum.
    Paul Williams.

    Father.

Can anyone help me name three fusiliers. If I have done this correctly you should find an attachment of three photographs, in photographs one and two is my Father on the left - Thomas Clifford Williams from Llangollen North Wales service number 14200988 of 6th (10th Battalion Royal Welch Fusiliers) Parachute Battalion, he was posted to Piddlehinton, served in North Africa, South of France, Italy, and Greece from February 1942 to February 1947. I believe the three photographs were taken in Italy? Photograph one was taken outside The Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri
(the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels and Martyrs)
in Rome, the other two photographs are in unknown locations but I suspect somewhere in Italy. I would be very great full if anyone could identify any of the other three fusiliers in these photographs.

    Many Thanks for looking.
    Paul Williams.

    Re: Father.

    Hi Paul,

Welcome. Firstly there is a Welshpool Comrades Branch member still alive who served in that battalion roughly the same period. His name is Jack Ellis MBE. I can certainly ask if he would like to have a phone chat with you?

Secondly General Farah-Hockley's biog has been published, title "Oft in Danger" by Gen Jonathan Riley CB, DSO. F-H spent his war service with this battalion and their war is covered in great detail: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Danger-Campa.../dp/1910777250 Well worth it, just to follow your fathers war service.

Here's all the battalion war diary ref's. They are kept at the National Archives in London. If that's too far for you, give me a shout, I offer a copying service at 10p per page to photograph the documents. I also donate any orders to this forum so they can help future members.

    Hi Andy.
Did you get my message about searching Kew for me? Not being fully familiar yet with this site I may have sent it wrong!

    Paul.
