Hi guys my great uncle davey my mam as told me was in the territorials in flint and drafted in to the Regiment in ww2.
Mam said he lived at mumford street Flint and was at Dunkirk and thinks he was a sergeant .
there is a photo of him at a drill hall in front of the castle in flint .
That's all we have on him sadly no number . Is there chance I can get his services record from this infomain or even what unit he was in. 7th I think we're from flint .

Hi Gary,

There's 76 David Williams listed on the enlistment register!!! Don't suppose he had an unusual middle name? Otherwise I think you might struggle on a free search.

Full name and date of birth should be enough to get the service record.

No need for a donation here, as we've not been able to help you. I was talking about a paid enquiry to the RWF Museum to obtain his service number. I think at this stage apply for his service record, as suggested by Baconwallah, then we can help you make sense of it later and perhaps track his wartime movements.

You really need his Service Records to tie any of this down, unfortunately its a bit messy.

The only RWF Bn/Regt (bar 101 LAA & AT Regt) was 1 RWF in 1940 campaign.
Transfers between TA/Regs were uncommon, but not unheard of, during that period - either way to me... its highly unlikely or several stories mixed up there.

Can you upload the photo with a bit of luck that may prove of great assistance.

IFound this photo my uncle is on it. 3rd row (dai diesel)williams . Is there any thing could be found out about him and were they might of gone from this .cheers all

It was in a flint magazine my mam kept I took the photo off its some time back .not sure if the original was in the local paper.I will have a chat with her. there are some more in it, this one is in front of the castle drill hall flint she thinks .there is. one with RWF marching through the town. I will be up there in a few weeks I will look it out.

the photo of the 60th was in the midweek leader called down memory lane 25th aug 94 .

Another guy in the picture Bert Prescott(Father of Lord Prescott) went to Dunkirk, he was a BQMS with 101, he got wounded and lost a leg. Two batteries of 60 RWF AT joined up with two LAA batteries to form a composite regiment, 101 LAA and AT Regiment, they went over to France with 1st Armd Div. Some of them got out but the casualties were bad. Your Uncle David was probably with them. The unit will be covered in Vol 5 of Regimental Records, when it gets published in the future. They would have been classed as Royal Artillery by Dunkirk.
