Re: St Davids Day
St Davids Day went well in the Battalion as ever.......The day started bright and early with officers and seniors meeting at the boys accomodation for gun fire, then it was all down to the rugby pitch to watch the Skaife Cup finail between HQ Coy and Dcoy, with HQ Coy lifting the cup and shield, which was presented by Lt Col Hughes (the Col of the Regiment repersentive) ex D coy OC and Senior Major , as some of you might remember him. Then lunch was served in the cookhouse by officers and seniors, with the good old sing songs, company leek eaters with the good old drums display, the presents of the regimental Goat and company banter. Once the food was over then it was all down to the Red Dragon for lots more beer and the inter company chior competion, the companys have been rehersing over the week or so under their CSM`s and every one in the companys sang thier hearts out with two songs they had to sing "The Gallaping 23rd" and "The Welsh National Anthem" with the judges(Lt Col Hughes, The CO and The RSM) having a hard job to decide the overall winners which in the end was Delta Company. Once the singing was over the more and more beer was drunk and was a good day for all ranks of the 1st Battalion here in Cyprus.
Photos will be put on the forum in due course.
