I recently picked up a group of RWF items and thought this flag might be of interest and also to get some comments on it from the members.
The group comprised two pairs of Red striped officer trousers (overalls?), one pair named to Major S. Metcallfe dated 11/04/51 who was RWM with 2/RWF during WWII and is mentioned in Red Dragon and was commissioned in 42 when he became QM with 70/RWF (Young Soldiers Bn). I have more information on him mostly link to the Gazette regarding his promotions.
The other pair is unnamed. It also includes an unnamed Mess jacket with rank insignia to a Colonel and a forage cap to the same rank, though the latter is named to P. Williams-Jones on whom I have a lot of information and he was the last commander of 6/7th RWF when it disbanded in the 1960's which probably explains why the flag is with the group.
The flag has obviously been overpainted in a few places and though now is marked to C company 6/7 Royal Welch Fusiliers (TA) it can clearly be seen that previously it was marked to 6th Royal Welch Fusiliers and I assume it was repainted in the post WWII period. The makers mark is the type used by the company in 1936, though it is hard to find out much about them and they might have used the mark for a long time.
Between 1960 to 1966 Lt. P. Williams-Jones is listed as being on the roll of C Company (Conwy, Bethesda) of 6/& RWF (TA).
Between 1967 & 1969 Major P. Williams-Jones was Company commander of C company (Bangor) of 6/7 Bn RWF (TA) which accounts for him having the colours in his possession as they are recorded in the regimental historyas being placed in the care of a small cadre from the Bn.
Williams-Jones is also listed as company commander, D company RWF, the Welsh Volunteers 1969 - 1971.
During the 70's Major Williams-Jones was commanding officer, D company the 3rd Volunteer Bn RWF TA and was senior major of the Bn.
P Williams-Jones is listed as Acting/Colonel TD ACF as commanding officer of Gwynedd ACF 1986-87 and then of 6th Cadet Bn 1987-91.

Perhaps this is in the wrong place and could be moved though I am not sure to where? Mind you if any old comrades remember seeing the flag in use or knew the officers mentioned?
Jerry
I served with the 6/7th Batt. at Caernarfon, this was before Maj William Jones joined, Norman Pritchard, Caretaker at the Baracks, will have more info on the Major and Flag, we have a meeting next week, I will pass on any info.
