W. Beckett - 2 Bn RWF
I am looking for information on W. Beckett who served in South Africa 1901 - 1902 with the 2nd Royal Welch Fusiliers.
This Soldier was my Wifes great grandfather. Because we live in Perth, Western Australia I am finding it very difficult to know where to start looking. Could you please help?
Best Regards,
Richard Powley.

Re: W. Beckett - 2 Bn RWF
Hi Richard
It was the 1st Bn that was deployed to South Africa. A number of men transferred to the 2nd Bn towards the end of the war.
I have only one Beckett recorded on the rolls for the Queen's South Africa medal, his initial is stated asN - but there are many errors like this.
His Service number is not clear I think it is 5599 Cpl N Beckett. This man was entitled to bars Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal, Tugula Heights & Relief of Ladysmith.
Being the only Beckett on the roll this must be your chap ?
Richard
