I am carrying out Research which requires that I trace
the name(s) of Officer Deserters from the RWF in 1918.
(Specifically, the RWF Batallion that was stationed in Ireland)

Does anyone know if this can be done?
Where are the Records located?

I can't help you and I am sure there were none from the Royal Welch! No sorry, I have no idea and I have not heard of any though it does seem unlikely that any did take such an action.

1918/1919?

3rd Battalion and 3rd Garrison Battalion. See link for dates. (Subject to confirmation by someone else I think 2nd Bn went there around Aug 1919 at which time they absorbed 3rd Bn)

i do know that in Kew there is a thick book with all the Court Martials from the Irish Command covering this period. (cough,,my granddad is in it!).

There are no recorded desertions by officers of the regiment during 1918 to 1920. There is only one officer recorded as being shot during world war 1 and that was for the murder of a military police officer who tried to arrest him for desertion. That officer was not commissioned into the regiment
