My daughter is researching ww1 and her great grandfather was presented with a certificate signed by Winston Churchill. We are trying to find out what he would have done to receive it. Could anyone help, thank you

A warm welcome. Thats a first, not heard of the Winston certificates before, we'll be interested to see it. Hopefully our team will be able to tell you more about the Grandfathers service in return.

    Thanks.

    Hi Folks.
It would appear that Winston Churchill signed a number of Certificates including ''Mention in Despatches''. the following link, while many of you will probably know this, is a interesting article as to the origins of MiD.

the signature is probably a Facsimile, rubber stamp.
