90th Reunion 5-7 Sep 14

I am looking forward to the 90th Reunion next week and the opportunity to meet old friends.

The town of Wrexham is full of RWF veterans over the weekend and although they may not be members of branches I look still look upon them as Comrades as RWFCA is about comradeship. That said the branch structure is the most visible and active part of our Association and only works if members sign up to their local branches, do join a branch and become a branch member otherwise our association will wither on the vine. I am delighted to see that moves are underhand to start two new branches in the Rhondda and Machynleth.

The format of the Reunion has changed this year principally to combine the weekend with the opportunity to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the outbreak of the FIrst World War. For this reason we will start the weekend at the RWF Cenotaph at Llwyn Isaf Wrexham. This means delaying the AGM until after lunch. This year we have the Royal Welsh Band to Beat Retreat at Llwyn Isaf Green before the Dinner in the evening.

A further change in the week end's events is that we will not hold a service at the RWF Cenotaph on the Sunday. There will be no march to church on Sunday but we will have the usual church service at St Giles at 1100 hrs on the Sunday. Attendance for the service has dropped over the last years and I would encourage you all to attend to make it the success it ought to be. You may not be religious or a regular attender but it is good for you to think of the service and sacrifice of others including the present day Royal Welsh.

Finally remember to form up on Saturday 6 Sep 14 from 1020 on the road between The Memorial Hall and the Cenotaph ready for the WW1 100th Anniversary Commemoration.
